So this is the basic look. I followed RiceBunny's tutorial (www.xanga.com/RiceBunny) on Smokey Eyes because I thought it was pretty darn simple. Just layer your eyeshadow on and blend!
I chose CYPRESS which in the description it states that it is "An exotic green eye shadow with an added boost of gold pearl". Hm, it's definitely more olive than green at the MOST. And it's extremely shimmery but it's not like you covered your eyelid in cheap glitter. Not glittery - it's shimmery.
Here's a swatch of the color on my skin.
This is the free eyeshadow brush that EDM gave me with my eyeshadow kit. It's a GREAT brush. I tried using a regular foam eyeshadow applicator for this but honestly this brush picks up the minerals soooo much better!!!
I basically swiped this Cypress across my lower eyelid with this brush.....
...And than with THIS sucker, I blended it while concentrating on the outer corners of my eyelids. The bf bought this brush for me for about $4.99 at CVS (a local drugstore). The brand is called Essence of Beauty and they have a whole line of brushes, wedges, sponges, and other makeup accessories. But the bad thing is, these are exclusive to CVS so unless you live close to one, it's pretty hard to find. These brushes are AMAZINGGGGGG. They are sooo soft and so freaking cheap!! Imagine having to buy brushes at MAC. ugh. How much would this brush be...$20?? Around there?
So yea that's pretty much the step-by-step process. I'll probably be doing this look again so I can keep practicing on the smokey look. So let me know if you want a video or a step-by-step photo guide!
For those of you who are worried about the "shimmery-ness" but are interested in this eyesahdow, here's a closeup look at it. Cypress is under the "Pearl" category of the EDM eyeshadows so they aren't as sparkly as the true "Shimmer" category eyeshadows. So I wouldn't fret too much - unless you're looking for a true matte olive green color. Than I would recommend EDM's Emerald Eyeliner Eye Color under the "Matte" category. I think it would be more olive greenish but it is matte and can double as eyeliner!
